Penedes wine tasting (and Montserrat Mountain)
You start the day driving through the picturesque Catalan region of Penedes. The lush green slopes are one of Spain´s most productive wine areas. Cava, Spanish Champagne also has its origin here.
You´ll be shown around a famous winery where you will get an explanation about how the wine is made, the history of the bodega and the different types of wine. Of course afterwards you get the chance to taste the wines and bring some bottles home.
Transport can be arranged by fully adapted vehicle or by train.
Combination with Montserrat Mountain
After this we will drive to Montserrat (meaning ´serrated´) Mountain. In the afternoon it´s quieter here and we can take our time to go to the monastery, see the black Madonna, visit the farmers market and maybe get some souvenirs.
Montserrat Mountain is an impressive 1236 metre high rock formation rising up in peculiar shapes 48 km outside the city of Barcelona. After an apparition of La Moreneta (the Black virgin) a monastery was built on the top of the sawed mountain top. It soon became a popular destination for catholic pilgrims to travel to ask for a miracle.
You will be picked up at your hotel to drive through the beautiful surrounding landscapes of Barcelona to Montserrat Mountain. In the Basilica you will be able to see the oldest boys choir of Europe perform. There you can also have the chance to touch the Black Madonna. For wheelchair users and people with limited mobility the statue is accessible by a stair lift with viewing from floor level. For those who are able to take a couple of steps you can mount the platform and see the virgin from up close.
Access to the cable car is limited to those who are able to climb 10 steps. The Monastery is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
During your visit you will be taken aback by the amazing views overseeing the spectacular country side of Cataluña.
