Montserrat Mountain
Montserrat Mountain is an impressive 1236 metre high rock formation rising up in peculiar shapes 48 km outside the city of Barcelona. After an apparition of La Moreneta (the Black virgin) a monastery was built on the top of the ´serrated´ mountain top. It soon became a popular destination for catholic pilgrims to travel to ask for a miracle.
You will be picked up at your hotel to drive through the beautiful surrounding landscapes of Barcelona to Montserrat Mountain. In the Basilica you will be able to see the oldest boys choir of Europe perform. There you can also have the chance to touch the Black Madonna. For wheelchair users and people with limited mobility the statue is accessible by a stair lift with viewing from floor level. For those who are able to take a couple of steps you can mount the platform and see the virgin from up close.
Access to the cable car is limited to those who are able to climb 10 steps. The Monastery is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
